My favorite quote on thankfulness
This one is courtesy Max Lucado:
Gratitude. More aware of what you have than what you don't. Recognizing the treasure in the simple -- a child's hug, fertile soil, a golden sunset. Relishing in the comfort of the common -- a warm bed, a hot meal, a clean shirt.
I LOVE the "comfort of the common"...that really resonates for me.
I read this quote between dinner and dessert at our family feast on Thursday.

Get Lost in the Corn Maze -- EDM 78
![]() |
| From Everyday Matt... |
This is my first attempt at a journal page done with pen/ink and watercolor with a touch of gouache. I like the job I've done on the pecans especially, and the cornfield. I was overlapping and grouping the elements to create a more interesting outline in the vignette, but now I realize I'd prefer it to be more spaced out, with a wash of color around all, unifying them, and the writing will unify and make and interesting outline also. So that's for another time. Still, I've made good progress in drawing, colors, and actually following through with a journal idea in a very timely manner -- after all, this occured just LAST night! I'm proud of myself.

My dad passed away
My dad passed away tonight at 8:20, and the funeral will be next week sometime. So it'll be awhile before I'll be back blogging.
